Your EPB representative will ensure a smooth and easy process – from temporary service and underground installation to permanent electric service. Refer to the steps below, and be sure to check out our Electric Service Guide for more information on your particular type of project.
Temporary Service (if facilities are not available)
Call 423-648-1372 to get a pending electric account. Your assigned EPB rep will contact you to schedule a site visit. Make sure your site plan is ready with project specifications and meter center locations. Then, let them know when you have an inspection sticker on your meter.
Your dedicated EPB representative will serve as your primary contact and oversee every step of installing electric service. They will determine necessary equipment and make a service activation commitment based on their site evaluation.
Temporary Service (if facilities are available)
Call 423-648-1372 to get a pending electric account. Schedule a site visit with your assigned EPB rep as soon as you have an inspection sticker on your meter. If it’s a pad mount installation, meter should be no more than 10 feet away from transformer.
After a site inspection, your dedicated EPB representative will ensure that service is activated on the next business day.
Underground Service
Clear a path between EPB’s facilities and your service point. The path must be to final grade, and prior to any paving. Make sure your project is far enough along to determine where service will be delivered.
Within eight days after completing your preparation, EPB will excavate and backfill the trench needed to run service and then install the meters.
Permanent Service
Your dedicated EPB representative will serve as your main contact and oversee every step of installing electric facilities. Be sure to let them know when you receive an inspection sticker on your meter.
When your meters have passed inspection and received stickers, your EPB representative will ensure power is activated on the next business day.
